Elizabeth Taylor 1993 by Stephen B. Whatley - in The Netherlands
An artist does not always get to see where his acquired paintings hang ; around the world.
Expressionist artist Stephen B. Whatley was delighted to receive a warm email and this photograph of his portrait tribute of film star Elizabeth Taylor on the wall of its owner's home in The Hague, The Netherlands - with his pet cat.
The oil painting formed part of the artist's 1993 exhibition, Hollywood Gold at London's National Theatre on the South Bank in London.
The art collector wrote wanting to express how much joy the painting gives - specifically in his words that 'it continues to be my most prized possession' - since the original was bought 28 years ago - and that it has travelled with him, through times in Azerbaijan, Canada and the USA.
Gratifying affirmation for any artist.
The work of Stephen B. Whatley is in private collections worldwide, including many states of the USA; and in public collections including BBC Heritage, The Royal Collection, London Transport Museum, Newman University & Westminster Cathedral.
His 30 paintings commissioned by the Tower of London in 2000 are permanently reproduced throughout Tower Hill Underpass that leads to the Tower from Tower Hill Station, as a daily public art exhibit.
