Saint Philip Neri . 2020 by Stephen B. Whatley

Saint Philip Neri - a new tribute in pastel by expressionist artist Stephen B. Whatley; created yesterday on his Feast Day, May 26th, 2020.

"The only way I get through this life is beginning with morning prayers and I discovered this 16th century Italian priest, now Saint ; and was so inspired to learn that amongst his patronages are US Special Forces....and Laughter, Humour & Joy - which was particularly inspiring !

Those closest to me know I love to laugh and have quite a wacky sense of humour at times; which saves me !

It is said that Philip Neri had a mystical enlargement of his heart which he described "as being ignited with God's own spirit". He worked on helping people and inspiring faith with 'joyful energy'.

In one prayer he talks about the importance of perseverance in prayer, even when it might feel useless; or at a point of giving up.

So towards the end of an exhausting day of various duties I felt what I humbly call a Divine Push. I knew I felt so little energy, so amongst my prayers was God give me your strength, guide me, help me; and the energy grew.

Blessings of light, peace, joy...& laughter which we all need at this time, wherever possible."
