Barbara Young is a prolific British character actress - most prevelant on stage and television - adept at drama, comedy and singing. Prolifically active on television since 1961, she is best known for her powerful role as Agrippinilla- the future Emperor Nero's mother - in the historical drama series, made by the BBC in 1976, "I, Claudius" - written by Ms Young's late husband, the acclaimed writer, Jack Pulman.

After sitting for this portrait Barbara Young wept tears of joy as she could see a deep likeness to her late musical sister; and poignantly as she posed for the artist, she had been gazing at an ink drawing of her late husband.
