The actress sat for Whatley in November 1992, hours before performing on stage in the West End of London. The oil painting was completed in the single sitting of approximately 3 hours that the artist requires to complete a portrait from life; to capture the essence of his subject.

 

The work of Stephen B. Whatley is on daily public display at Tower Hill where his commission of 30 paintings for the Tower of London is permanently reproduced through out Tower Hill Underpass that leads to the Tower of London.

 

The artist's work is in collections worldwide & in public collections including BBC Heritage, The Royal Collection, London Transport Museum & Westminster Cathedral. His portrait tribute of Barack Obama was published in TIME magazine in 2008.
