Tribute to Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962), painted during the 65th anniversary year of her birth. Inspired by one of George Barris's photographs taken of Marilyn in Southern California in the summer of 1962. The artist concentrated on the playful joyousness that helped the tragic actress to survive much of her painful life. This painting was exhibited in Stephen B Whatley's 1993 exhibition Hollywood Gold, staged at London's Royal National Theatre.
In 2006 the painting was published in the book Marilyn In Art by Roger G Taylor (Pop Art Books).
