Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Newport, Oregon - Explored
A foggy morning on the Oregon Coast along Yaquina Head is my first lighthouse memory, but this midday view of Yaquina Head is equally impressive. I love the "Warmify" effect on Google Picasa, but I had to tell myself that it would look really weird for the midday Oregon sun to be experiencing a sunset-like glow. I did throw in a little contrast, but that was about it for this shot.
There's another lighthouse in Yaquina called the Yaquina Bay Light, which I've yet to visit. It's on the agenda for a potential summer trip down the Oregon and California coasts. We'll see!
On a side note, this shot was actually taken the day after I was engaged last summer. My then-fiance probably sighed as I dragged her to a lighthouse the day after our engagement. Ah, the pains of love!
I'm currently putting together a set of four galleries of lighthouses, and would love some referrals for contacts and/or groups with some high quality, and preferably lesser known lighthouse shots. You're welcome to check out the galleries in their primitive states here, and please comment with any suggestions for where I can find more shots. At this point, I think I'm happy with the amount of Pacific Coast and Northeast lights, but the Southeast, Great Lakes, Canadian, and some of the more exotic locations seem to be largely unrepresented. I'm willing to dig into European, Australian, or Asian light groups, but would like to keep the focus on American, or at least Americanized light structures.
