EV Charging station Village at False Creek

The map and satellite view are both out of date. The Olympic Village does not appear. This is on Salt Street between Athlete's Way and Walter Hardwick Avenue - in front of the Salt Building. Exactly how one is supposed to charge a vehicle without stopping - which is what that symbol means - I have no idea. This thing is huge. If all electric vehicle charging stations need to look like this then the prognosis for their adoption just got really low.

When you compare this to the plug ins that are common in other (colder) Canadian cities to keep block heaters going - or the one at Sunrise Community Centre (see below) - there must be some questions asked. I can only assume that this is what is needed for a DC quick pick me up charge. Which obviously requires something different to an AC 110v trickle.

I also noticed that people at present seem to be parking in front of the buildings not on the "plaza" side where this is.

UPDATE April 2012 I am pleased to report that it is no longer there
