Marilyn Monroe
A statue of Marilyn Monroe (1926-1942) is found outside Hotel Maritim in Haugesund Norway. Marilyn Monroe's real name was Norma Jeane Mortenson. Her father was the half Norwegian, Martin Edward Mortensen. His family emigrated to the US from a place called Sveio, which is close to Haugesund. And as Haugesund hosts the annual Norwegian Film Festival, one therefore thought it was a good idea to place a statue of her outside the hotel where the Amanda film award show is held.
