Since their initial development, the E633 and E652 groups were also thought for the demanding services along the Alpine routes.
Notwithstanding this specification, during the initial production of the E633 locomotives, no remote control system was installed.
Two crews were consequently required in case of double traction.
However, this decision was quick changed, leading to the introduction into service of a second series of locomotives (E633.2) specifically equipped with such kind of equipment.
The same will be later confirmed also on the E652 group.
