Rotterdam in sepia

Rotterdam in sepia

The Erasmusbrug

I thought it could be a good moment to upload some sepia images once in a while.

Sepia, nowadays , speaking in quantity, is the little, and a bit old fashioned, brother of black and white. But I think the tones, just because they are softer, are more beautiful.

Sepia has some great other advantages as well. One can really make a good poto, no matter what kind of weather. The contrasts are a bit lower then in black and white, so there are not much blown out highlights. Even in dull weather conditions, one can make a picture, not good enough for a superb photo, but enough for sharing with family and friends.

Ok, here's the Erasmusbrug, the absolute most photographed site of Rotterdam. Weather conditions were good, dark skies in the distance with the light behind me and on top of the high buildings.

Rain was arriving in about 15 minutes. The camera, an oldie, that I always carry with me, is the Nikon Coolpix S6200, a simple but effective pocketcamera from the medieval age.

Lancelot had one while photographing Guinevere, did you know?

The processing in the city, when photographing modern architecture, will from now on be as smooth as possbible. Not because I must, but because I can.

Enjoy and have a nice week ahead.
