The Bootleggers Place

Ninety years ago the infamous bootlegger/Olympic footballer Algoth Niska had his headquarters at the Lillgården farm house at the old village in Tyresta. He spent several years in prison, both in Sweden and Finland. In 1938 he began smuggling Jewish refugees out of Germany to Finland. He died in 1953 from a brain tumour.
