Well, by the time my friend and I drove up through Carson and WInd River it had time to develop fully, and the skies opened up in a great deluge (not to be confused with a delusion) and poured out it's buckets of rain on our heads at the top of Old Man Pass.

 

prettier from down here in one way... but then again, after the rain passed fairly quickly by we found lush beautiful green wet forest full of waterfalls and great huge old growth Cedars and Douglas Fir trees. It was beautiful there too in all the mist and rain...

 

I learned this is an Anvil cumulus formation , really a Cumulonimbus incus

just amazing storm too, as this blew through the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range in Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington State,
