Settle-Carlisle 6923

Settle - Carlisle Railway, Yorkshire Dales National Park,

The Railway opened in 1876, nearly closed in the 1980s, but was reprieved, the line has gone from strength to strength since. Passing through spectacularly beautiful countryside, much of which is within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, many of the formerly closed stations have been reopened (often as rentable tourist accommodation), and are kept in excellent condition. It is very popular with both steam and diesel hauled heritage trains.
