Path Carved by the Virgin
The Narrows in Zion National Park.
The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. This gorge, with walls a thousand feet tall and the river sometimes just twenty to thirty feet wide, is one of the most popular areas in Zion National Park. A hike through The Narrows requires hiking in the Virgin River, which means you are walking over slick rocks and wading through water most of the time. A walking stick, dry suit and appropriate footwear are a must and available for rent at few stores in Springdale.
