I just returned from this year's White & Wild Japan tour. One of our subjects is the photogenic snow monkeys, mostly known for the fact that they like to bathe in natural hot springs. Most of the images you see of this species are taken at these hot springs, but the vast majority of the troop actually spend its time outside in the snow.

 

This image was shot on a late afternoon when the sun was about to set, creating soft light that brought out all the subtle texture in the snow.
