Sparkle Drift

A group of brown pelicans glides across a shimmering body of water, their silhouettes cutting through the light like slow-moving punctuation marks. The surface sparkles with reflected sunlight, turning the scene into a quiet spectacle—part wildlife documentary, part abstract painting.

I caught them mid-drift, just as the light hit that perfect angle where everything looked more poetic than it probably was. The pelicans moved with the kind of deliberate grace that says, “We’ve done this before.” I framed the shot while they floated like feathered buoys, unfazed by my presence and clearly uninterested in anything resembling urgency. It felt like nature’s version of a slow parade—no music, no confetti, just attitude and excellent lighting.
