Built for War
She was built for war, sturdy walls, tall towers and had many guns, She was ready to protect the town from anything that came into the bay... Or was she? She never saw battle, and from my understanding all she really did was store goods along as soldiers for many years. Either way, she stands strong to this day and is an awesome visit if you get to Saint Augustine. They neat thing if you look at the map and where she sits, if you were an incoming ship and you thought you could enter the waters of Saing Augustine, By the time you saw San Marcos sitting on the shore, it was too late. The inlet is narrow there and she is a bit hidden from the mouth of the inlet, the position of the fort would make it pretty easy to defend.
