Winter Haiku

When I initially came across this image, it immediately brought to mind thoughts of poetry -- the gentlly falling snow in the graceful trees, the single bird... I looked around for a suitable haiku to use and couldn't find one I liked, so I wrote this one myself.

Probably one of the most tedious stamps I've ever carved, the Winter Haiku stamp was a real challenge because the letters are so tiny -- the entire stamp is only 2 3/4" tall -- each row of letters is 1/8" tall! Did I mention that I really don't like carving letters?

winter falls silent

bird song breaks the frozen hush

hangs in snowy trees
