Lying in Wait!
"Hey, I dare you to put your hand in there..." I heard one kid challenge another. Neither had any idea what kind of critter it might be - not recognizing our favourite resident alien, a.k.a. the Gunnera plant - they decided not to push their luck!
Each day, a couple of new parts unfold a little more and at this stage, it can be verrrrrrry weird!
