Dawn Service

Sunrise Panorama from Rocky Mountain, Wanaka on ANZAC Day 2015.

I had originally planned to head up to the summit of Roy's Peak (the mountain range to the right of the image) this morning, but opted for this location as plan b, kind of like a poor man's Roy's Peak.

My reasons for taking the easier option were the poor weather forecast and having just completed some 70+ km of tramping in bad weather.

The Kepler Track was pissing it down most of the time and I was not looking forward to another dose.

Turns out I probably should have gone up Roy's Peak, as this was the nicest morning of my entire 2 weeks - not that I'm complaining.

Behind me, looking toward Treble Cone, there were more dramatic clouds, rainbows and another cold front approaching.
