I just love a good pattern ... this does it for me!
I've been working to get my backup strategy going again - what a nightmare! Using rsync from Mac OSX to a windows share nicely copies the files up but the whole point of using rsync is that it should only copy the new changes subsequent times, not the whole set of files! After much wasting of time I found that the dates on the files created via rsync on the windows share were all (something like) Jan 1, 1969! Grrrrr - I wish I knew why these files had the wrong date! My guess is windows is doing something incorrect. My work around was to pull the files using synctoy ... 40+ gig took about 6 hours over a 100mb line.
