1989 Black Tiger Fire aftermath up on Sugarloaf. Until the recent Fourmile Fire in a nearby canyon, this had been Colorado's most destructive wildfire.
In 21 years, a few aspens and pines have gotten a foothold in the ashes of the fire. As the decades pass, most traces of the fire will be erased by new growth.
