When the Mink Leaps

Recent DNA analysis identifies the American Mink as the only living species of the genus Neovison in the family Mustilidae.

The American Mink is an intelligent, curious, and stealthy creature. When easy pickings like Crayfish are available, it will co-exist to some degree with potential prey species such as the Muskrat, which also may enjoy a crawdaddy snack, but which would certainly put up a much better fight against the mink than a crustacean.

American Mink are said to be highly intelligent - smarter than a cat - and on a level with some primates on some tests. Does that mean the mink is savvy enough to avoid tangling with or killing the big adult muskrats, which are prolific breeders producing a steady supply of more easy pickings for the wily mink?

Only the Shadow knows.
