the new set up
A lot of people have been asking about my homemade softbox. So here it is. It's a pretty simple setup, just a wooden frame with some fabric stretched across it. I have a couple Alien Bees strobes that I use for illumination. In the shot above, I'm using just one of them, a B800. The frame is suspended by pulleys attached to the ceiling so I can adjust the height and angle.
I've been pondering the addition of some walls to contain the light a bit more, but I haven't found the spillover to be too much of a problem for my shots yet. I figure I can put up black fabric surrounding the shooting area to reduce the amount of ambient light affecting the scene.
*update*
I added the walls. Check them out.
