Boeing 747 Iridescent Vapour Trails (Animated)
I've been using Pixaloop on my phone to animate a couple of my photos to include in a talk. This was taken at 16:25 BST 21/05/20
The aircraft was a Magma Aviation Boeing 747-481 (BCF) travelling from Frankfurt to Greenvillage-Spartanberg. Photos taken with a Canon 1100D with 300mm zoom lens. Hand-held, manual focus.
The iridescent colour in the vapour trails is caused by the diffraction of sunlight by the water droplets in the exhaust vapour. You often get the same effect in clouds near the Sun or the Moon, and they sometimes form concentric rings of pastel colours, called a corona.
The image was processed in Lightroom and Fast Stone Image Viewer then animated using Pixaloop
