CITROEN 2CV6 1949 - 1990 (Explored)
Generations: 1
First production year: 1949
Engines: Gasoline
Body style: Hatchback
First penned in the 1930s by Pierre-Jules Boulanger, the 2CV had a very short list of requirements: it a had to be a simple and rugged vehicle which would enable two peasants to carry up to 100 kilograms of farm goods to the market, also providing that the roads in France weren't exactly top notch during that period.
Since 1949, it continued to be manufactured with very little modifications for over 40 years, becoming a cult icon in the process. Other interesting features include radial tires (among the first cars to use them), four-wheel independent suspension, rear fender skirts that required no removal in order to change the wheel, detachable doors and hood, flap-up windows and a full-car-length canvas roof.
Citroën is a French automobile manufacturer founded in 1919 by the French industrialist André-Gustave Citroën, and part of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group since 1976. In 1934, the firm established its reputation for innovative technology with the Traction Avant.
This car was the world's first mass-produced front wheel drive car, and also one of the first to feature a unibody construction, with no chassis supporting the mechanical components.
