Check out these Australian built off-road "Motorhomes", we have seen them in a couple of places on our travels on the edge of remote outback trips. Birdsville Track, Oodnadatta, and Cairns, (in a photo)

Several places we got our Land Cruiser, some without the trailer, you would not get one of these into. It is too wide for the track, the overhanging trees would stop it, or the sharp corners around the trees and tree roots would stop it. Like into Cape Melville in FNQ.
The track into Verilya Point and the bridge over the creek crossing would be very tricky, or break!

The Gunbarrel Highway or Sandy Blight Junction, has many small wash aways, creek crossings and narrow sections with overgrown trees that would wreck the sides of the van..
The Toolina to Point Culver was marginal for a Beetle in 1966, and in 2016, friends badly damaged the sides of their Hi-Lux camper from the narrow track tree cover.
Most outback tracks are used by Cruisers, Prados, Patrols etc. the large expedition vehicles keep to more open roads like the Tanami or the Gibb River road.
