Our apartment complex has a brook running along one edge. There's even a little bridge over the brook as your drive into the complex. Usually it's dry as a bone, with maybe a little trickle after a shower.
We've had so much rain recently, ending with three huge storms today. After the final storm passed, the sky was blue but the brook was busting its embankments. We've never seen it this high. Of course we had to walk over and get a close look.
Normally, from here, there's about a four foot drop to the bottom of the dry creek. This time, it was just an inch or two down to rushing water. See here for a broader view.
