office floor 3

Well, flickr uploaded all of these pics of the installation of the floating cork floor in the attic rooms--in some random order.

But at least the first photo's of the first room. Jacob came over (he had motivation, he's going to put some kind of floating floor in the Airstream so this was his chance to preview the installation process), and did a lot of these first two short rows of planks across the floor. I provided my weight on the plank he was hammering the next one into, and did a few.

Jacob also pulled out that baseboard in the corner there, and showed me how not to saw planks to fit into the end of the row! And he shuttled me to the home store so I could get a carpenter's square and some other stuff I needed.

Then he ducked out before Row 3, where tricksy cutting was going to need to be done to fit the flooring around a wall-cabinet opening.

Actually there's nothing like having someone else who's handy when you're starting something new. He figured a lot of it out (I figured out more later), and I got in the groove. Just many hundreds square feet left to go! And ever so much cork sawdust.
