Henry Moore (1898-1986) Organic Design Era and the Atomic Coffee Maker

The later rounded organic versions of the Atomic coffee maker , as manufactured in Italy by Robbiati, and separately by Sassoon in the UK, have been described as 'organic' designs and reminiscent of the sculpture of Henry Moore. There is some truth in this claim. Atomic coffee makers are formed seamlessly, there are no straight edges and the design seems to come more from nature than from industry. In this manner the object itself becomes a wonderful synthesis of form and function. A household sculpture.
