The Bird Is The Word

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
― Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons
The Tweedles wanted to see the sunset tonight. Emerson asked me this morning if we were going tonight, and when I picked them up from school, he asked me again. I absolutely LOVE that they like, or are ok, with sitting with me to watch the sun go down. ♥ So today, we caught a killer sunset, and I suddenly had the grand idea of going to a spot where I had been a few months back. On the way, I could see that there was a huge cloud moving in, and it'd probably be for naught, but I kept driving anyway. I get there, and there were birds EVERYWHERE! Just hanging out, and flying from one side to another. Incredible. I was laughing out loud b/c I couldn't believe the amount of birds and how close they were, and I said, "this is amazing!!" and lo and behold, the boys repeated me and kept saying as they enjoyed the show.
The clouds didn't let us see anymore of the sunset, and shortly after it started to drizzle. I hope we can head back and see this again and that it wasn't due to the rain or something.
Oh, and this is going in to my good times jar. :)
