The Education Hospital Bird Sanctuary in Sarasota, rescues, rehabilitates and for those birds who are unable to be returned to the wild are given a permanent home. We humans are responsible for injuries and death to birds through deforestation, biofuel plantations, electrocution through power lines and light house, automobiles, fishhooks and golf balls. We cause a great deal of damage to both the ocean, its life and the birds with all the garbage/rubbish we throw into the ocean and the many oil spills. Direct mortality such as deliberate killing, for food, plumes, bird-cage trade, hunting and pesticides.
If one looks at these beautiful and marvelous birds we so often destroy, we must ask ourselves, why can we not be more careful with preserving them. They are majestical, delicate, athletic and a joy to watch, they soar way high, dive into the oceans to fish, have the most beautiful babies and can give the whole family pleasure through watching their activities. Look at the owl in the picture above, what a beautiful bird, why would we want to hurt it?
