A catch - from the land of fishy tales

The village of Loutolim, in South Goa wakes up one Saturday morning to empty out its pond, to collect the sweet water fish. This traditional form of fish farming (aquaculture) has been in practice in most Goan villages for many years. Rohu, Chonak, Pitol and Katla are amongst the much sought after freshwater fish harvested here and locals flock to buy their share of the catch

(If you are in Goa during April-May, you could get lucky to experience such an village event. What's more, the people of South Goa are so hospitable that a traveller passing by is most certainly invited for a complete Goan meal of fish curry rice.)
