My 17yo has come full circle. Both girls wore Crocs when they were little because I chose their shoes and clothing for the most part, and Crocs can go in the dishwasher! So we'd go to the playground, their shoes would get filthy, then they'd clean easily. For years, my kids would see pictures of themselves wearing Crocs and cringe and complain that I forced them to wear 'those shoes.' And now here we are, my daughter asked for Crocs for Christmas, got a pair, and has since spent her own money to buy the little attachments that go into the holes. Teenagers are weird.
