Smoky Mountains sunrise

After a long trip, it is not an easy thing to be at this spot in the first place. Even more so at this hour. I stumbled to set up my camera equipment in blackness. And then came the waiting. In the still of night, the black sky gradually turned into a dark shade of grey. Noise began to pierce the silence as a few birds awoke and chirped, followed by more. And then a pinkness (pictured here) revealed the clouds above. This gradually morphed from purplish-grey, to greyish-tan, to yellow, until sun rays escaped out in an instant from the far mountain ahead. What a slow rush!
