"Mom Look What I Caught!"
This family of Sandhill Cranes lives in our neighborhood in Sarasota, Florida. If you look closely, you'll see the "teenager" (he's the small one on the right without a red cap) is showing his parents the slug he caught. He was so proud and kept holding it up in front of them for a long time before gobbling it up. The Cranes lost their first pair of babies earlier this Spring, then lost one of the two babies in this clutch, so we've been anxiously watching as this remaining youngster grows up. Looks like he's going to make it!
