Arbós (officially and in Catalan L'Arboç) is a municipality of the Catalan region of the Baix Penedès. According to data of 2005 its population was of 4,562 inhabitants.
It appears documented already in year 991 like possession of the lords of Castellet. In 1076 the castle of the town was sold to Ramon Berenguer I, reason why it was in possession of the crown. The repopulation went making during 12th century. In 1202 it had the privilege to celebrate a market and in 1210 also the one to celebrate fairs.
In 1297, king Jaime II donated the town to Guerau de Cervelló as payment of a contracted debt temporarily. Nevertheless, the town returned at the hands of the crown in 1315. During 15th century it was the second locality in importance of all the region. The important later depopulation had to diverse epidemics of plague that whipped the city.
During the war against Juan II the population positioned itself in principle in favor of the Generalitat. But in 1464 the troops of the king fortified themselves in the city that underwent the attack of the faithful armies to the Generalitat. Shortly after, Juan II yielded the town to Joan Berenguer de Masdovelles. The economic and demographic recovery of the town after the war was extremely slow.
Arbós underwent new disasters as a result of warlike conflicts. The 10 June of 1808, the French troops sacked and set afire the city. Again it was sacked the 3 January of 1836 during the First Carlist War.

Arbós (oficialmente y en catalán L'Arboç) es un municipio de la comarca catalana del Bajo Penedés. Según datos de 2005 su población era de 4.562 habitantes.
Aparece documentado ya en el año 991 como posesión de los señores de Castellet. En 1076 el castillo de la población fue vendido a Ramón Berenguer I por lo que quedó en posesión de la corona. La repoblación se fue realizando durante el siglo XII. En 1202 poseía el privilegio de celebrar un mercado y en 1210 también el de celebrar ferias.
En 1297, el rey Jaime II donó temporalmente la villa a Guerau de Cervelló como pago de una deuda contraída. Sin embargo, el pueblo regresó a manos de la corona en 1315. Durante el siglo XV era la segunda localidad en importancia de toda la comarca. La importante despoblación posterior fue debida a diversas epidemias de peste que azotaron la ciudad.
Durante la guerra contra Juan II la población se posicionó en principio a favor de la Generalitat. Pero en 1464 las tropas del rey se fortificaron en la ciudad que sufrió el ataque de los ejércitos fieles a la Generalitat. Poco después, Juan II cedió la villa a Joan Berenguer de Masdovelles. La recuperación económica y demográfica de la villa tras la guerra fue extremadamente lenta.
Arbós sufrió nuevos desastres como consecuencia de conflictos bélicos. El 10 de junio de 1808, las tropas francesas saquearon e incendiaron la ciudad. De nuevo se vio saqueada el 3 de enero de 1836 durante la Primera Guerra Carlista.
