First accelerated class at the Saint Louis University School of Nursing
The first accelerated class at the SLU School of Nursing. In the front row the woman farthest to the right is Andrea Kern. These ten students successfully completed the same final examination as students in the regular generic nursing courses and then went on to enroll in Community Health Nursing. Their scores were comparable to, or exceeded, those of students in the regular curriculum. They would write their licensing exams in September of 1972 (May 1972). Source: Saint Louis University Libraries Special Collections, [Photographer unknown].
Ms. Kern was identified with the help of Matthew C. Sherman. Thanks!
