61/365: Big Orange Wall

Saturday, 26 July 2008.

Of the many things from which I draw inspiration, my big orange wall is one of my favorites. When my husband bought a house with cathedral ceilings, I made him promise to go "bold" with the Great Wall (I was still living in a different state at the time), and boy did he ever! This wall is a fiesta of red/orange delight!

I love red and orange. A lot. I was one of those kids who always said blue was the best color, but as I got older, I really fell in love with warmer, more fiery colors. To me, they represent life, celebration, flavor, and energy. When I surround myself with red and orange, I feel as if I might be at a South American open air market, breathing in the delicious scents, and picking out goodies to cook.

The paper I'm holding is some handmade red and orange striped paper leftover from our wedding. I used red and orange handmade papers for the invitations, as well as for the decorations. And, speaking of wedding reds and oranges, the bouquets and bouts featured habanero, red jalapeno, and thai chili peppers. Yum!

Anyway, I love my big orange wall, so you'll frequently see it as a background for my shots, like here, here, here, and here.

It reminds me every day to go out and be bold, fearless, and spicy!
