TRADE WINDS: Guangzhou's African Community

Xiaobei, Guangzhou, Oct 2008

Kiev-60, Biometar 80mm, Provia 400

Two year-old Huang Long has an African name too, but his mother, 30 year old Huang Aiping from Guangxi, isn't sure how to spell it. His father would know but he's back in Sierra Leone on business. She says his Chinese is really good, much better than her English. They've been married for four years.

Huang Long will grow up around her store in the multi-lingual environment of the foreign trade malls, in contact with both his African and Chinese roots.
