Looking down the acess shaft of Middleton ROC post in Norfolk

 

ROCs are cold war observation posts initaly for aicraft identification and later on for location and measurment of possible nuclear bomb blasts. Approximatly 1500 were built and all remaning posts were closed in 1991 leaving 100s of small 'time capsules' dotted about the countryside waiting to be re-descovered.
