Electrified [Explored]

A breathtaking night unfolds above the electrically lit expanse of southern India.

From the flight deck of a high-cruising airliner, the Southern Milky Way stretches across a star-studded sky, accompanied by the Southern Cross constellation and the dark silhouette of the Coalsack Nebula.

In a rare celestial coincidence, a vivid red sprite crackles in the upper atmosphere, balancing electric charge from a hidden thunderstorm far below.

At the same moment, a Lyrid meteor bids its fiery farewell, ionizing the air in its path and causing it to leave a brilliant, fleeting trail.

Ancient starlight, the brief luminescence of two atmospheric wonders, and the human-made glow from the Earth below - all converge onto the sensor of a camera nestled in the flight deck. That sensor, momentarily electrified, fed its signal to a computer's circuits, allowing this image to exist and now be seen on your own electrically powered screen.

We truly live in an electric world.
