Family Excursion
During October New Moon, I spent a night with my kids at this beautiful lake in the Swiss Alps. After a moderately sternous hike, we finished setting up our tents just in time to have a simple dinner while enjoying a beautiful sunset.
After dark, we watched the stars, and I had to tell the mandatory horror story. Luckily, I was able to twist the plot into a funny happy ending, or the children wouldn't have slept as they retired to their cozy sleeping bags.
Temperatures were exceptionally mild for the time of year and only fell slightly below freezing, despite the lake being located some 500m above the tree line. I had a pleasant night doing astrophotography, which means that I didn't use my tent until just before dawn.
Spending time in beautiful nature, watching the stars, doing astrophotography, and, last but not least, sharing these passions with my loved ones... it doesn't get much better than that.
