Crater Lake [Explored]
Last week, I was on an astrophotography trip to California and Oregon. Shooting seven nights in a row from dusk 'til dawn and driving some 2500 miles leaves even the most passionate photographer fatigued. Stupid mistakes are the result and I made quite a few. Some highlights are:
- Shooting foregrounds with the tracker running.
- Forgetting to lower the ISO after framing test shots and therefore capturing 10 minutes of completely white frames at ISO40000.
- Mixing up filters for different adapters while shooting with two cameras. The result was half an hour of completely out of focus data with both cameras.
The most stupid mistake, however, was non-photographic. After a short nap and a quick breakfast in the morning after the 5th night, I almost brushed my teeth with my razor instead of the toothbrush. I alread had toothpaste on it, but fortunately, I noticed the mistake before putting the razor in my mouth. 🙈
The trip took me to some beautiful places. One of them was Crater Lake National Park. The photos I captured will keep me busy for a long time. In the meantime, here a so far unpublished image from a previous visit to Crater Lake in October 2021.
