Hotel California [Explored]
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood by a tripod
In the silence of the night
And I was thinking to myself:
"This could be heaven, if the lights are not too bright"
Then she lit up a head lamp
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face
Plenty of stars above the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year)
you can find them here
Her cameras were astro-modified
She got two EOS-Ra's
She got a lot of pretty-pretty lenses
she called her glass
How they capture that night sky
Sweet summer air
Some nebulae I remembered
Just were not there
So I called up the assistant
"Please bring me my narrowband, fine"
He said: "We haven't had that filter here since 1999"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the day
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face
They're shooting the stars at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors in the telescope
Pink nebulae look so nice
And she said: "We are all just working here with our own device"
In the telescopes chamber
They gathered for the night
They collimate it with their steely tools
But they just can't get the focus right
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
Had to get the astrograph back
I had used before
"Relax", said the night man
"We are programmed to receive"
You can check out any scope you like, but you can never leave"
