Vigilance [Explored]

On the highest point of Simplon Pass in Switzerland sits a great stone eagle. It was built after World War ll to reflect the vigilance of Switzerland's army, guarding this strategically important road against an attack from Mussolini's facist Italy.

The golden eagle was the symbol of the 11th Mountain Brigade stationed on Simplonpass during World War ll. The cenotaph was built from stone tailings of their fortifications.

In this image, the south-facing eagle seems to be watching the wonders of the Winter Milky Way.

I tested a new technique to make the red Hydrogen-alpha emission nebulae more prominent by combining a 'traditional' stacked panorama with data captured through a narrowband filter.
