Arching into the Twilight

The early season Milky Way is perfect for capturing sweeping panoramas with the arch hugging the horizon, like this 300° view of the the Tschuggen Observatory in Arosa, Switzerland.

For this image I tested a modified setup for tracked panoramas. It was a tough test, as I had to shoot under huge time pressure: I had only 40min to capture the 28 sky frames. With 60s exposure time for each frame, I was left with 26 seconds to rotate the camera by 10° between each shot. Not much room for error!

The setup worked o.k., but I wasn't able to maintain my tight schedule. The delay forced me to shoot into the astronomical twilight and you can see the light of the approaching day lighting up the horizon on the far right.
