Standing Strong

For more than 2000 years, Italy was the epicenter of European history. That's why it is packed with cultural treasures, dating from the Roman Empire to the Renaissance.

This stunnig medieval fortess was built in the 14th century and, standing on peak at 1500m above sea level, it is the highest castle in Italy.

Unfortunately, I found it brightly lit at night. Shooting it was a real challenge and I did not believe that I would get any keepers, but I stubbornly kept shooting. Later, back home, I dismissed most exposures a unusable and left them untouched.

As I am suffering solid cloud cover for over a month now, I have time to work on my processing backlog and found that I am able to rescue some of the previously dismissed images. The sky is not as good as I had hoped it to be, but considering the conditions, I am really happy how this turned out.
