Summer's End
The "Summer Triangle" (Deneb - Vega - Altair) over Fälensee, one of my favorite mountain lakes in Switzerland. The place not only is extremely scenic, but the mountain guesthouse Bollenwees, visible in this image, also allowed me to conveniently combine my imaging session with a two day family hike in the beautiful Alpstein Mountains.
What looks like an image taken in panorama orientation, is a pretty complicated tracked and stacked panorama.
The sky was tracked and stacked to reduce noise. I chose a higher than preferred ISO, to keep the exposure time for the sky part at a reasonable value. However, it still took me over 30 minutes to capture the sky.
I also tracked the reflection, which in hindsight was not worth the hassle this time, but it proved (once more) that my setup works nicely.
I chose a lower ISO setting for the foreground for better dynamic range, as the guesthouse unfortunately was still brightly lit when I took this image.
