Cloudy Nights
Last Sunday I got up at 1 a.m. and drove 90 minutes to a dark sky spot in the mountains. I arrived under perfectly clear skies and started snowshoeing up a steep hill. During the 30min hike, I did not pay attention to the sky, but upon reaching the top of the hill, I noticed that clouds were moving in fast. I quickly set up my camera and started shooting, but after less than 2min the clouds completely covered the rising Milky Way. Skunked again!
I had this frustrating experience four times since February new moon. I resisted the urge to immediately return back home three times. After running out of curses, I continued shooting in the hope of a clearing or that the clouds at least make an interesting time lapse movie.
Did it work? Tell me what you think.
